ArcelorMittal's Digital Leap: A Global Partnership with AWS

ArcelorMittal has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to advance digital transformation and industrial automation across its global steel manufacturing operations.

The partnership will embed AWS cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and edge technologies into ArcelorMittal’s production systems to enhance safety, improve asset reliability, and increase energy efficiency. As part of the initiative, the company will integrate selected operational technology and information technology systems on AWS infrastructure, enabling real-time data processing from industrial IoT devices, sensors, and production equipment.

The unified digital architecture will enable use cases such as predictive maintenance, computer vision-driven quality inspection, process optimisation, and the creation of digital twins for industrial assets and production lines. AWS will also develop a workforce training programme to support large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence across ArcelorMittal’s global operations.

Group CIO & CISO Nik Puri said the initiative brings cloud and AI “directly to the point of production,” enabling real-time optimisation of plant operations and supporting safer, more efficient, and more sustainable manufacturing.

The collaboration is expected to significantly strengthen ArcelorMittal’s transition toward fully digitally enabled steelmaking powered by cloud and AI technologies.
